Founded in 1991 by the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Craven is designed to bring together a diverse group of potential leaders and provide a forum for shared viewpoints on the future needs of Craven County. The mission of Leadership Craven is to develop "a new generation of leadership" to take Craven County into the 21st century and beyond.

Leadership Craven:

• Provides a balance of viewpoints for the
  purpose of broadening participants' perspectives.
• Encourages development of a network of interpersonal
  relationships among participants.
• Provides a forum for dialogue between participants and
  current community leadership.
• challenges participants to apply their talents throughout the community
  by accepting the responsibility of active community involvement.
